I am absolutely delighted to be running the 2021 London Marathon to support Cavell Nurses’ Trust on 3rd October.

I’m looking forward to joining the thousands of runners at the start in London and smiling all the way around the course. I’m sure I’ll be in pain at the end, but after deferring my place from 2020 due to the pandemic, I’m desperate to complete this amazing marathon.

I would love to hit my £2,000 fundraising target and would be hugely grateful for all who can help me achieve this.

Why Cavell Nurses’ Trust?

Cavell Nurses’ Trust is the charity supporting nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants when they are facing a personal or financial crisis.

I turned to them when I was in need of help, and I want other nurses to know that there is somewhere like Cavell Nurses’ Trust for them to turn to. Giving back to this charity makes so much sense to me.

There’s always going to be another nurse out there struggling with the black cloud, whether it’s physical or mental health affecting their finances, but there is hope out there and people who care and that’s what I felt when dealing with Cavell Nurses’ Trust.

How am I feeling with only a few days to go?

“I am feeling well overall. I am mainly focusing on my wellbeing now. I don’t want to fall into a trap of being so anxious that I can’t complete the marathon and exhaust myself being worried.

The fact is, I know I can run 20 miles physically… no problem. Mentally, I need to be ready to enjoy the day.

I am practicing 10 minutes of meditation daily, and I am trying to stay away from cake … not really haha!! I am allowing myself to eat when I am hungry, but I tend to eat generally quite well anyway.

I am doing 5k warm up runs with 30 minute weight work outs. Currently, I am tapering down from the 20mile distance I completed on the 12th September.

It’s been really touching how many people have reached out to me about my story. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me.”
