New trustee expertise in charity’s drive to support more nurses and midwives

Five new trustees have joined the board at Cavell Nurses’ Trust to bolster its provision to support frontline healthcare staff.

Cavell supports nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants who are facing a personal or financial crisis often due to illness, disability, domestic abuse and the impact of rising living costs.

After seeing a huge 140% rise in people needing help in the first four months of 2022, compared to the same period the previous year, the team at Cavell were keen to gain further expertise to develop the charity’s strategy in responding to the current cost of living crisis.

Chair of trustees at Cavell Susan Gostick explains

“We’re delighted to welcome new experience and expertise to the trustee team at a time when the charity needs to grapple with its response to the increase in nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants needing help. The next few months will be crucial as we put together a new strategy designed to support many more staff and their families across the UK.”

Three of the incoming trustees, Matthew Hodson, Debra Moore and Cynthia Gumbiti-Zimuto have significant nursing and leadership experience, while David Lewis and Naomi Dickson offer expertise from the pharmaceutical industry and domestic abuse support respectively.
