The hit campaign returns this year and sees nursing professionals across the UK take on a 10k challenge in October to raise vital funds for the nation’s charity for nursing professionals, Cavell Nurses’ Trust.
There have already been more than 130 inspired people from the nursing world sign up to do 10k their way, and a further 70 more who will be achieving their 10k on Snowdon.
#10kForNurses is all about coming up with your way do ‘10k’ in October. You could bring together colleagues and do a 10k walk in your local park, sign up to a 10k race, soar from 10,000 ft in a skydive or give 10,000 seconds of your time to do something awesome. There are also three epic Snowdon challenges which you can join for an unforgettable experience in an incredible team. You really can do 10k any way!
Most importantly, each 10k challenge will provide a lifeline to a nurse, midwife or healthcare assistant facing severe difficulties in their lives. Every #10kForNurses fundraiser is pledging to raise at least £100 (or 10,000 pennies) to transform the life of someone in crisis. This £100 could help a nurse facing cancer cover essential bills whilst on the road to recovery, helping them to get back to the job they love. Or, it could help a nurse fleeing domestic abuse with their children, purchase essential items quickly.
#10kForNurses was created in the summer of 2017, after a conversation on Twitter between nurse and WeNurses founder Teresa Chinn and Paul Jebb, Deputy Director of Nursing at Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust. Teresa commented,
“October has to be one of my favourite months. For the last few years, October has been all about #10kForNurses and spending time with some amazing people all in the name of raising funds for Cavell Nurses’ Trust. There’s something for everyone. You can run, walk, hop, cycle, swim, bake, or even give 10k seconds of your time.
The important thing is that we come together, have fun and raise money to help support our nursing friends who are facing hardship. So how about making October your favourite month too and join me and hundreds of others in doing 10k your way for the awesome Cavell Nurses’ Trust”
You can join the 2019 #10kForNurses team too and pledge to support nursing friends in crisis. You’ll get a fantastic free fundraising kit and t-shirt to look the part for your challenge too. Do 10k your way here!
