Cavell News - January 2017

In 2016, Cavell Nurses' Trust received 36% more enquiries for help than the previous year.

There's lots of reasons why nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants contact us for support - illness, older age, domestic abuse, disability - but we always aim to turn around applications quickly, in many cases getting these vital nursing professionals back to work - caring for us!

Lottery winners! - Thank you to the players

We are delighted to report that Cavell Nurses' Trust received more than £32,500 last year in donations from the generous people who played the Health Service Discounts Lottery. And with our 'matched fund', set up after a generous donation from the Perseverance Trust in 2015, that money has been DOUBLED to £65,000.

This vital cash means we can quickly get much needed funds to nurses suffering hardship, like

  • repairing a nurse's faulty boiler in the dead of winter, ensuring her family keep warm
  • funding travel costs for a midwife attending hospital for cancer treatment
  • providing mobility aids to ensure a disabled healthcare assistant can get out and about to see family and friends

Have you played the Lottery yet? It is drawn every week with an average prize of around £600. Find out how to register and play... click HERE

Making a real difference

We always keep in touch with the people we've helped to find out how your support has made a difference to their lives. And we're happy to tell you that it is significant...

  • 89% of the people supported in 2016 stayed in, or returned to work
  • 83% said our support positively affected their physical health, with 94% saying their mental health was positively affected too

We're so proud that the help nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants receive makes such an impact on their lives. But we need your help!

There's a chance to win a share of over £10,000 in travel placement funding and computer technology.
