A Commemoration Service to Honour the Life and Legacy of Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell
Cavell Nurses' Trust is delighted to be working with the Florence Nightingale Foundation to host a special service at Westminster Abbey commemorating the life of Florence Nightingale as well as the Centenary of Edith Cavell's reinterment.
Wednesday 15 May 2019 at 12noon
The event marks exactly one hundred years since Edith Cavell's body returned to the UK from Belgium. In 1919 crowds of people lined the streets of London as Edith's coffin, mounted on a gun carriage with a Union Jack flag draped over it, made its way from Victoria Station to Westminster Abbey for a special ceremony.
